Day 1 Airport - Chilaw - Dambulla

Manawari Temple - Chilaw
Built by Lord Rama after defeating Ravana, this temple houses a Shiva Lingam named Ramalingam, one of only two in the world named after Rama. It holds great significance for devotees on the Ramayana Trail.

Sigiriya rock fortress – Sigiriya

Known for its stunning rock fortress, Sigiriya is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is also believed to be one of the places where Ravana kept Sita captive. The site’s rich history and mythological significance make it a must-visit spot on the Ramayana Trail.

Day 2 Dambulla - Trincomalee - Dambulla

Thirukoneswaram Kovil – Trincomalee

Built by Agastya Rishi on Lord Shiva’s instructions, this temple is linked to Ravana’s devotion. Lord Rama is also believed to have built a lingam here to atone for killing Ravana, a Brahmin, thus making it a significant spiritual site.

Kanniya Hot Springs - Trincomalee

These hot springs are believed to have been created by Ravana after his mother’s death. The springs have been a pilgrimage site for centuries, known for their healing properties and mythological roots.

Shri Bhakta Hanuman Temple – Ramboda

Built by the Chinmaya Mission in Ramboda, this temple marks the spot where Hanuman searched for Sita. It is a significant pilgrimage site, drawing thousands of devotees each year to pay homage.

Divurumpola Temple - Welimada

This temple is believed to be the site of Sita’s Agni Pariksha, where she proved her chastity to Lord Rama. It remains a revered site where locals take oaths and pledge fidelity, continuing ancient traditions.

Ravana Cave – Ella

The legend has it that the cave was used by King Ravana to keep Princess Sita in captivity. Located about 2 km from the Ella town, the cave lies on the base of a cliff, making it a popular hot-spot among hikers.

Kelaniya Temple – Colombo

After helping Lord Rama defeat Ravana, Prince Vibhishana was crowned ruler of Lanka. The Kelaniya Temple has a shrine dedicated to Vibhishana, worshipped as a deity. The temple is also significant for being visited by the Buddha himself.
